Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to see a medical doctor first or get a prescription?
No, we are doctors of physical therapy and provide direct access healthcare meaning you can come straight to us. We are trained experts at assessing your injury and identify the source of the issue.
Medicare patients do require a prescription.
Do you take insurance?
We accept Medicare, and are out of network with other insurances. If you have out-of-network benefits you may be fully or partially covered depending on your plan - we are happy to look up your benefits for you.
If you have a balance due we accept payments by check, credit card, cash, venmo, or zelle.
How long will each of my sessions be?
Typical sessions last one hour, but the amount of time may vary depending on your condition and your avalability.
We are effective with sessions lasting from 15 minutes to 2 hours, but we will form a plan at the end of your first visit. It is usual to book 1 or 2 sessions per week for 60 or 30 minutes each and adjust as necessary.
How should I dress for my appointments?
Dress comfortably in non-restrictive clothing, and be prepared to remove footwear. It is helpful to allow access to your skin especially at the sight of injury.
Your entire body is taken into consideration during treatments rather than just where you have pain - sessions typically involve whole body movements.
You also may store clothing in our lockers so that you can change here.
When should I expect to notice relief?
You can expect relief from the very first visit. We always teach simple effective ways for our patients to continue to improve their injury on their own. Your entire recovery duration will vary depending on severity of injury, consistency of your visits, and your ability to make time to ‘fix yourself’.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Physical therapy is a direct access specialty, meaning you can come straight to us. We are available to reach directly by phone at 212-765-4800 or you can send us a message/appointment request through our website, or email us at: info@physicaltherapynyc.com
